International Cheer Union Announces Cheerleading Coed Premier will join The World Games for 2029

Cheerleading first debuted at The World Games in 2025 in China with Pom Doubles, this 12-athlete team division shows the rapid growth of cheerleading worldwide

MEMPHIS, TN, UNITED STATES, September 6, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ -- The International Cheer Union (ICU) is proud to announce that the Cheerleading discipline of Coed Premier will be featured at The World Games 2029 (TWG 2029) in Karlsruhe, Germany, expanding the opportunity for male and female cheer athletes to compete together at the highest level.

The ICU first joined The World Games program in 2025 in Chengdu, China, where cheer made its debut with the discipline of Pom Doubles in Performance Cheer. The inclusion of the Cheerleading Coed Premier Division for the TWG 2029 represents the next step in the sport’s evolution on the international stage and is a powerful example of the continued growth of the sport worldwide.

Through a qualification of the top teams in the world, the ICU’s Coed Premier teams will bring an added excitement to TWG 2029 featuring the sport’s highest level in cheerleading skills; partner stunts, pyramids, basket tosses, and group tumbling along with dynamic choreography showcasing the world’s greatest athletes of the sport.
