APPLICATIONS FOR TWO JUDICIAL COMMISSIONERS IN THE GENERAL SESSIONS COURT NOW AVAILABLE ONLINE
Shelby County, Tenn. – The Shelby County Board of Commissioners is officially accepting applications to appoint TWO (2) Judicial Commissioners, a full-time position, to General Sessions Court. Applications are open until Friday, October 16, 2026.
Judicial Commissioners are responsible for performing related duties as required by the General Sessions Judges. Candidates must meet minimum qualifications such as a Juris Doctorate and, be licensed to practice law in the State of Tennessee, have at least five years of experience practicing law in the State of Tennessee, and shall be a resident of Shelby County.
All candidates will be subjected to a background check. All applications will be reviewed thoroughly. Those interested in applying should click the link or visit our website to complete the online application for an appointment. Additional items, such as a resume and cover letter, are recommended and can be attached to the application. The top two candidates will be selected from the applicants.
Applications should be completed by Friday, October 16, 2026, at 4:30 p.m. Interviews will be conducted on Wednesday, October 21, 2026, at 10:00 a.m., in the Shelby County Committee Chambers of the Vasco A. Smith Jr. County Administration Building, 160 N. Main Street, Memphis, Tennessee, by the General Government Committee. The following Monday, October 26, 2026, at 3:00 p.m. at the above address, is the date of the vote on the appointment.
