NASHVILLE, Tenn. – State Rep. Lowell Russell, R-Vonore, thanked poll workers across Loudon and Monroe counties for their work during the 2026 election cycle.

Poll workers play an important role in ensuring elections run smoothly and securely while providing voters with a positive experience during early voting and on Election Day.

“Elections don’t happen without the people willing to step up and serve,” Russell said. “I want to thank all the poll workers in Loudon and Monroe counties who gave their time to help their neighbors exercise their right to vote. I also want to recognize Susan Harrison and James Brown for their leadership and the work they do to oversee the election process. I appreciate everyone’s hard work and dedication, and I want to make sure they know it does not go unnoticed.”

Tennessee was recently recognized as the nation’s leader in election integrity for the fifth consecutive year, according to the Heritage Foundation’s Election Integrity Scorecard.

The Volunteer State earned perfect marks for voter identification and scored highly in several other categories, including voter registration list maintenance and absentee ballot safeguards.

At the local level, election officials and poll workers help administer elections and ensure these safeguards are followed while serving voters in their communities.

The 115th General Assembly will convene in Nashville on Jan. 12.

Lowell Russell represents District 21 in the Tennessee House of Representatives which includes part of Loudon and Monroe counties.
